Day 12 - MOTAB! - and a photoshoot

Sunday 15th May
Mum watched the kids while Hayden and I went to the tabernacle to see MOTAB do Music and the Spoken Word. Seriously spectacular! The choir delivered on their big finish and I got to watch Mack Wilberg at work. Dream come true! I had tears coming down my face.

We had afternoon church but only lasted sacrament as it was mum’s missionary ward with no primary and Toby was off the show from too much sugar etc. A man from New York spoke and I LOVED his accent.
We drove Toby around to look at temples so he would have a sleep. We went to the Jordan River temple and the Draper temple. The houses around Draper temple were ridiculous, so massive.
Then it was time to eat tea and head to temple square for our photo shoot. It was really hard with Toby being so hyper and the photographer, Evie, did a great job. Despite all the flowers being taken out the day before, and a morning of stormy weather, the pics turned out ok...

Day 11 - Temple Square and the Conference Centre

Saturday 14th May

Today we left Edie with mum for a nap and took Toby to the South Visitors centre, (i'm obsessed with his shoes)...

...he loved playing with the interactive boards and looking inside the temple. Hayden and I were amazed at the beautiful model of the temple.

We headed outside for a tour of temple square and mum and Edie joined us. They only took us to the assembly hall so it was a bit lame. We looked inside the tabernacle and saw the demonstration of the amazing acoustics, seriously you could hear a pin drop. Then we headed to another frozen yogurt place for lunch.

That afternoon Hayden and I took Edie to Beehive house while mum and Toby went sock shopping. Once again I didn’t really enjoy the tour as most things were just replicas etc. and they didn’t get into the juicy stuff haha.
We had a quick look around the North Visitors centre, snapped a picture with the Christus then we sent both kids home with mum and went and toured the Conference centre!

It was AWESOME! They had all original artwork and busts to look at and the place itself was massive!

This tour went right up my list of favourites, they are clearly making it one of the big things to do on temple square.

That evening we went to texas roadhouse for tea. The meals were so huge we took enough home for the next night. The dinner rolls with cinnamon butter were delicious.

Day 10 - This is the Place and The Roof Restaurant

Friday 13th May

Sandra left early on her road trip and we headed off for Park City. We finally had a little cake for Edith's Birthday...

We stopped at the ‘this is the place’ monument on the way. Definitely a nice view, but not actually where Brigham said ‘this is the place’ apparently!

We spent the day shopping up a storm in Park City at the outlets. Edie flaked while our credit card got a good work out.

Toby chose some little red Jordans from the Nike outlet. They are so cute.

That evening Hayden and I went to ‘The Roof’ restaurant. It was an all you could eat buffet but very stylish, and the view from the top of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building was amazing! We wanted to tip the piano man at the end of the night but Hayden only had a $20 note so after debating whether we could sneak past without tipping he decided to ask a waiter to change it for him. Then we were discussing whether we should give the waiter a tip for changing it for us haha. Tipping can be very confusing. But because of tipping we found the service in America to be amazing.

Day 9 - Humanitarian Centre, Welfare Square and Baseball

Thursday 12th May

We started the day off with a tour of the Humanitarian centre. This was amazing! It was really good to see how the church mobilises itself in areas of need around the world.

We picked up mum and went to Café Rio for lunch. Seriously Delicious and Cheap!

In the afternoon we went to tour Welfare Square. This wasn’t very successful as they kind of rushed us through because there was an important government group coming. We got to taste the chocolate milk so that was good.

In the evening we went to a minor league baseball game, Utah Bees vs Albuquerque, it was a good night we also got to try a hot dog.
Toby was most excited about riding the trax (train/tram system) to and from the game.
